Day 4- I can't believe that this is the last day of camp. Today we went straight into making our iMovie, I finished the last scenes and then I helped Sofia and Stella work on taking the many pictures. We needed a lot of photos and in the end our iMovie was about a minute in total. That was pretty annoying, we took almost 200 photos only to get about a minute's worth of film. Our film ended up being called The Unicorn Who Flew, it was pretty good considering we only had 2 days to make it. I think that if we got more time we could have added a lot more and our movie might be a little more complex. Also we were limited to 3 scenes and 3 characters, that was a bit hard. We had to figure out what scenes we should use and what characters we would need to make in order for our story to make sense. In the end we had a Candy House scene, a Sky scene, and a Rainbow scene. We then decided to have a Unicorn, a Cloud, and a Pot of Gold. It was a bit hard figuring out what our movie was going to be about because we only had a limited amount of time to finish the movie. After we got our story down, we then did some sketches of the different scenes we would have in our movie. Then we assigned jobs, I got to make all the scenes on the computer and Stella made the Unicorn while Sofia made the Cloud and the Pot of gold. Then we submitted our sketches of our characters and had them 3D printed. I finished all the scenes and printed them today, then we started the hard task of taking a picture and then moving our characters a little and taking another picture. That was one of the hardest parts to making the movie. However, once we finished we the had to import it into iMovie and then do all our edits and add things to our movie. In the end this project was really fun and I enjoyed camp a lot and can't wait to do it next year.
Here is our movie:
Day 3- Today we created a story together with each of us adding a part. Then we went and got into our groups to create our iMotion movie. My group consisted of Stella, Sofia, and me. Our story was about a unicorn who wanted t fly, a cloud decided to help the unicorn learn to fly. They traveled and at the very end they met a pot of gold and a rainbow. The pot of gold offered them 3 wishes or a pot of gold. The unicorn and cloud chose to have a party instead. That is pretty much our whole story. For creating our story, Stella and Sophia created our characters and I am in charge of creating the backgrounds. I have a sky background, a candy house background, and I also have a sky scene with a rainbow as the last background. This iMotion movie project is really fun, I am enjoying this project and all the projects that we have done this week at camp. I also got me initial 3D print and my logo print today. They came our really good and I love them.
Day 2- We started the day off by playing a name game again because there was some new people here. The game was saying your name with an action and we had to do other people's actions and names when it was our turn. I think that some of you wold have played this game sometime in your lifetime. Then we met with McKenna from the loft. She showed us how we could do a body scan that would then be printed in the 3D printer! I did that, I posed like I was about to shoot. Then we started our project, Our goal was to create a logo for our school, but we ran into some obstacles along the way. I did a soccer ball with an eagle head right next to it. However, when we went to put it onto the the computer we realized that we couldn't make them into keychains without messing up other aspects on our logos. We then went back and rethought how our keychain would work. Then we went back and resubmitted our work. It was really fun though, even with all the obstacles it was fun being able to create a school logo.
Today we started the day by introducing ourselves with a really fun name game. The name game used 2 basketballs, one bounced, the other was a dud. We also started a chain using the 3D printer. That was really cool, I got to keep one of the chains that we made. After that we went into our room and used old recycled things to create an invention. My group and I made a colored pencil and crayon dispenser. We used two different soda cans, tape, string, two paperclips, and a piece of cardboard. That was really fun, then we had to present it as if we were trying to get money to produce it. Other groups made a robot, a terminator, and a turbo boost. Then we got issued a MacBook Air and given our first project. We were creating our initials by drawing them in different and unique ways. Then we put them onto Mrs. Kushner's account so that she could print them for us. I made a keychain that had my first and last initials. I am so excited for Mrs. Kushner to print my keychain. The 3D printer is really cool, also I also think that the new 3D doodler is also awesome! My first day at Media Arts camp was amazing and I can't wait till tomorrow!
