We went to the library and a 3-D printing shop today. It was so cool! We were able to see what a 3-D printer could do. I got one of the objects I made on Sketch Up and it turned out great. I would definitely like to do more with 3-D printing and the software. I think the best part of camp was seeing the 3-D printers in action. I also really liked working in Sketch Up. I would really like to see 3-D printers in a media arts class. It would definitely be fun.

This is the first item I found on Thingiverse. This person made a Wii nunchuck interface and I thought it was really cool. It has a plug right in the hole in the middle. It looks like he made separate parts and snapped them together. The inside of it is hollow for the wires. It is already a pretty good design But I would try to make the top easier to take off. This is a 2 part iPhone bike mount. This is a organizer. My sketch. I choose to make the organizer that I found on Thingiverse. It looked very handy to have around. Here is the final product. It took a long time to make, but I think I'm getting better at using Sketch Up.
Today we started working on google Sketch Up. I am trying to make a book mark. Google Sketch Up is really complex and so many things can go wrong so it takes a long time to make something simple, but this is what I have. Tomorrow I hope to play a little more with google Sketch Up and see what else it can do.
Repurposing: Stapler We repurposed a stapler to become a really tiny elevator, like something for an ant. There's a thing in the place where you put the staples that moves up and down and we just used that. Reflection: Day 1
Our invention out of cardboard was a book holder. It was cool but I'm not sure it would work if we made it smaller. I think it would be fun to make another small useful object and see how that works out. |
